Cockroaches comprise the most abundant and varied living creatures in our environment. These arthropods are considered household nuisance pests. They can influence human health. The health of the person depends on internal and external factors. Cockroaches also play an integral ecological role. These are really dangerous to human health because they provide a medium for the transport of certain dangerous microbes. Cockroaches are considered allergens for many people. They also serve to be the secret enemy of the human. Therefore, its control and management must be taken into account.

Cockroaches are commonly seen in kitchen areas, bathrooms, and near gutters in homes. They can be found in various other hidden locations. The reason is that warm, dark and covered areas are favorable for their survival. They can produce some kind of unpleasant smell, as well as strange voices, which are usually heard in the kitchen. If you are wondering how to get rid of cockroaches, here are some steps you can try:

1. Locate where they come from
Find out where they come from or where they are going so that you can eliminate them completely. Keep an eye out for different hidden holes, pipes, or dirty places in the house. They should be properly monitored until you are sure you got rid of them.

2. Cleaning the place
Dirt is the source of their food. So if you want to get rid of roaches, you have to make sure that your place is clean. Thoroughly clean the area where you found them and especially the entire area. The place must be hygienic and a daily sweep must be carried out.

3. Proper Food Storage
Since roaches come in search of food particles and water, the food must be properly sealed or packaged. Make sure the water taps are turned off tight. Leaky faucets need to be fixed. Food should also be stored in a clean place.

4. Use of cockroach killer/insecticide
There are several types of insecticides easily available on the market that can help you get rid of cockroaches. These include the use of boric acid dust, insecticidal sprays, fumigants, etc.

  • Powdered Boric Acid: Pesticides should be sprayed or misted in hidden areas such as places under heavy machinery, appliances and kitchen cabinets and in the corners of bathrooms.
  • Roach sprays: These are used to kill both the immature and mature forms of cockroaches since the sprays have the ability to penetrate deep into those places where they are hidden.
  • Diatomaceous Earth: It is a sure killer as it does not cause any harm to humans. He also effectively kills all the cockroaches.

5. Herbs to use to kill cockroaches
Catnip, dried chrysanthemum flowers, bay leaves, and neem oil solution are herbal insecticides that can also help control roaches. These herbs are usually available at home. Catnip will not kill roaches, but it will repel them. Neem oil will kill roaches only when ingested. So if you don’t want to use chemicals, you can try to get rid of cockroaches easily and comfortably without spending a lot of money by simply using these herbs.

Note: When it comes to such chemicals, it’s important to remember that your children and pets should stay away from places where you’ve used chemicals.

6. Use roach traps
They serve to help us get rid of cockroaches by attracting them and then capturing them. Likewise, roach bait also proves to be beneficial in catching roaches in those areas where they are abundant. These traps are a non-toxic way to kill roaches.

In a nutshell, proper sanitation, regular roach control, and regular application of any good insecticide once or twice a month are the basics used in roach control measures.
