There are different types of business letters, which are used for different purposes. They are divided into two types: the business-to-business type and the business-to-customer type. These business letters have the same outline as a professional letter.

Business letter outline:
– Date
– Return address
– Internal address or recipient address
– Greeting

– Closure
– Attached files
– Typist’s initials

Business-to-business types are intended for business-to-business communication. Examples are:
o Thank you letter: a letter of thanks and appreciation for the help provided or for a good deal.
o Thank you – is a thank you letter.
o Congratulations – is a letter that praises the recipient for a job well done
o Letter of Recognition – A written statement of recognized efforts similar to a letter of recognition.
o Reference letter: it is a character reference letter. It is a letter that builds the character of a person to be accepted in a job.
o Recommendation: it is a letter of support to hire a certain person. Letter of condolence – is a letter of condolences to a person or family.
o Invitation Letter – is a letter that persuades a person or company to join an event or occasion.
o Letter of credit – is a form of endorsement of a certain business to be considered a credit loan.
o Letter of interest: a response to an invitation confirming presence at the event/occasion.
o Business memorandum: Notices distributed to staff. They are reminders of company activities, or impending changes in the company. Business Introduction: It is done to introduce a new business to the readers.
o Business letter: a letter that talks about the plans for the business.
o Donation Letter: A letter requesting donations.
o Letter of termination: more popularly known as a letter of resignation. It means someone’s desire to leave a job permanently.

Business-to-client letters are:
o Welcome Letter – welcomes the client and thanks him for choosing the company.
o Thank you letter: thanks the customer for doing business with the company.
o Letter of apology: asks the client for reconsideration and apologizes for not complying.
o Collection letter: notice of pending payments due.
o Invoice letter template: ask customers to indicate the invoice number of their transactions.
o Invitation letter: invite a client to join a certain meeting.
o Marketing letter: indicates the newest products that the company will offer soon or that it currently offers.
o Rejection Letter – is declaring the rejection of the client’s request.

Business letters are more formal in writing. Strictly follow the formats. Be concise, clear and straight to the point.
