Does your dog have intestinal problems?
Bowel problems can manifest as lots of gas, diarrhea, and possibly blood. This can also come under the heading of digestive problems. The saying that “Life and death” begins in the colon. That doesn’t just apply to humans, but also to dogs.
Many dogs lead very uncomfortable daily lives with these digestive problems. They have cramps, pain, and cannot fully digest their food. Sometimes he passes right through them after he has eaten.
I have a lot of experience in this area, having had a Yorkie that had these problems all of its almost 14 years. The vet never suggests anything.
When he had bad diarrhea, I gave him small doses of kaopectate from a syringe. He always had loose stools, was never constipated, but sometimes passed a mucus-like substance that shone like jelly. I was always afraid that he was going to die when he was a pup. He would hear these loud gurgles coming from his intestinal area. When they would start, he wouldn’t eat anything until that happened. I came home from shopping one day and there was bleeding all over the house. There was so much blood that I was surprised he was still alive, he was fine when I left him to go shopping. He came suddenly. We ran to the vet which was after hours, at 6 pm She was anything but helpful. She gave him a couple of injections and said for her to see my regular vet the next day. Charged $80.00.
His diet was always very good, since I cook at home for all my dogs. Sometimes the diet can cause diarrhea and other problems.

Some vets prescribe medications that don’t work, so it’s really up to you to try to learn as much as you can about your dog’s condition. No one knows your dog as well as you.
At that time, I didn’t know what was wrong. I have since realized that I could have helped him more with his intestinal problems, instead of resorting to Kaopectate. Dogs can’t tell you when they have a tummy ache. They just seem to carry on as best they can, but if you know what to look for and how to help your dog, both of you will be happier. I wish I had known about products that might have helped my Yorkie.
Currently all my dogs are healthy and I am happy to say that none of them have intestinal problems.
